[ She doesn't withdraw from his invasion of space but she isn't happy about it either. Her eyes narrow and she doesn't break eye contact, no instead she holds his gaze furiously. But her body is betraying her intent, her fingers touching each other rhythmically--an old habit that was keeping her temper in check.]
No one ever has to, or wants to. But they don't have to, I don't bluff about these things--I told you that, darling.
And what can they be afraid of?
[ She opens her mouth, and closes it. About to add, 'I'm the one who has the right to be afraid.' But she doesn't, why would she say that to a stranger. Instead she whips around, almost slapping him her hair in a huff.
He's getting on Kamui's nerves, all of these assumptions about her. About those around her.
She was a product of their failures, and their selfishness. It only made sense that they dealt with her, hell, that they made it up to her.
Shaking her head she focuses on making her choice of plush. Of course, she didn't even look at the booth to see if there was something big and pink. It's fine, she settles.]
It's shame there's nothing pink, but....I like him.
[ Blue suspenders, yellow skin, big goggles. They were funny little guys.
Clutching her prize close to her small frame she turns to face her new...companion. Her face a blank slate, as she tries to process her emotions.
All she feels is irritation.]
Now if you're done...nitpicking at me, dear, I'd like to get that funnel cake you promised me.
Or are you insecurities about being worth my time making you so unsure?
[ Expect the unexpected is the first and most cliche rule in his line of work, but even now and then there were some things you just couldn’t prepare to be unprepared for. ]
Well this isn’t my day.. so I guess it’s whatever the princess wants!
[ He offers the carnie a withering smile, apologizing for and exchange he himself had instigated. apologizing on behalf of a woman he didn’t even know.
His target starts walking too, and it’s all just so perfect ]
Hm, but you should really watch what you eat you know? Sugar has a habit of making you mean after an hour or two.
[ He says, concerned ( for her, for himself ) like he knows her at all ( he’s assuming ) ]
It doesn't make me mean. After all sweets just make you sweeter, and they make me happy.
[She turns on her heels, the wooden boardwalk digging into her feet. The smile on her face is borderline poisonous, just vaguely dipped in sweetness.
Wouldn't want to look like some little monster when you're connected to such a well-known family, right?]
And you want to make me happy, don't you?
[ She felt almost like she was talking to Xander, like just yesterday she was pleading with him to spend time with her. Even if it was some simple game of chess, or tea.
Maybe that's what she enjoyed about this, it was attention--attention from a stranger--and she seemed to always be viciously hungry for it. ]
So how was work? You always seem to be working. Even now.
Maybe that's why you're asking all these questions, you just can't leave work be.
Is that why you're so cranky?

if i'm arisato and you're arisato then who the hell is the seal
[This is unusual. For the most part, being the Seal meant exactly what it sounded like. Sealing away Nyx and preventing contact with Erebus. He only had enough effort to think thoughts to himself, let alone do anything else. But now? He's seated at a familiar place, the bar at Hagakure.]
One speci-
[And right as he's about to order because why the hell not, he hears the chimes above the door ring as another customer enters. A girl in a Gekkoukan uniform. He's never met her, despite knowing most of the students through all his extracurriculars. Still, there's... this feeling he gets.
When he looks to her, he gives her a simple nod and then tilts his head.]
Right. [The way he says it is like a quiet realization. You can order whatever you want in a dream and not pay for it. Amazing.] Extra chashu with mine.
[Minato follows suit, but shakes his head at her question.]
No. Not that I can remember.
[The corners of his lips twitch up slightly, but not into a full smile. He's trying though. In his last few months, it had gotten much easier, natural even, but for some reason he feels like he's pushing it.]
[And without ever having to take a college entrance exam! He slurps beside her, answering any question she might have had about how his ramen is. It's good, like always.]
Did you get to hear Mitsuru-senpai's speech? I missed the closing ceremony.
[Until they're far enough from Loegres, Velvet doesn't even say anything, regardless of how much Natalia might try and pester her. Once they're across the bridge leading to the capital, she turns around to face her.]
You can take off that cloak, you know. It's just making you stand out more. Honestly, I don't really care whether you die or not, but I guess I'm expected to keep you alive. That's what the Bloodwings are paying me for, at least.
[Up until this point she'd been frightened: both for herself and the fate of her kingdom. Any and all anxiety dissipates when her "savior" finally speaks. Natalia does take her hood off, but not because Velvet asks.
But because she wants to properly convey her anger. ]
If you want to get paid then perhaps you should care a bit more.
[ She brushes her hair back and gets a better look at her savior. She tsks disapprovingly at her outfit. ]
There are plenty of other jobs if this one doesn't pan out. Besides, who'd actually care if you died? Everyone knows the Shepherd's the only one with any real power.
[After she kills him, they'll need the nobility again, but that's not really her problem.]
The prison island Titania. The Abbey's abandoned it for months, even though it's mostly clear of daemons at this point. I do hope it'll be up to your standards, Princess.
[After planting a big ol smorcher on his forehead, she just looks at him for a moment. She wonders if he'd have something to say about that, coming from the girl who yelled at him not to even hold her hand. But more than anything, she wishes he'd say anything.]
Finn... I'm going to find Luke Skywalker. And then,
[Truth be told, he's running out of excuses to constantly be at Senate meetings. Still, this was easier than coming up with excuses to be on Naboo or Coruscant without any "official" Jedi business. He had met up with Threepio earlier and easily gotten him to spill his wife's current location. Right now, she's between meetings and apparently all by her lonesome. So, when he enters her quarters, it's with a bit of an uncharacteristic smile on his face.
Until he sees him.
A man, and not the guard he's seen before nor a senator or a member of some royal family or... anyone he's ever seen Padme with.
Anakin's smile quickly dissolves into a scowl and he resumes his serious Jedi persona.]
My apologies for intruding. I have an important message for Senator Amidala. Do you know where I might find her?
[Some time after the whole kidnapping murder partner thing has gone down, Anakin is back in their room. He paces back and forth, then stops and raises his hand in the air as if pushing something. Of course, nothing happens. He tries again, lifting this time. Again, nothing. His hands ball into fists as he lets out a frustrated sigh.]
I don't know what I expected.
[The voice sounds as foreign as his body feels. It's garbled, far away, mechanical even. He remembers the way he first felt with the new hand, but this is different. Everything feels so restrained, as if he's trapped in his own body. Is that why...?]
I still sense nothing from the Force... How strange.
[Pascal had sent them an urgent message, something they had to come see in the village. 2B apparently had some pretty important orders from the higher-ups and he would've just gone with her, but... she told him to check on Pascal. When he arrives, Pascal gestures to a house in the lower area. "Down there. It's better if you see for yourself." Well, that's ominous. Sighing, he makes his way there.
Inside the house is... an android. Not YoRHa, and not like any he's seen before.]
Hey.
... Guess your systems must be down.
[Another day, another side quest apparently. 9S starts to hack in, except- he can't. Not like there's a strong barrier or he failed or anything like that. It's as if there's nothing to hack at all.]
[Her last target had been easy enough. A powerful merchant who had made his way onto the Bloodwings' watchlist. She's collecting the proof of her kill when she hears footsteps nearby. Putting the bloodied feather away, Velvet readies her blades.]
You're too late.
[Her voice is playful. While the Brotherhood teaches that one should respect the lives they take, Velvet's gone far past that point. Now, only one life matters to her, the Templar Grand Master Artorius Collbrande.]
Unless you're planning on taking me, and if that's the case... good luck.
[ She's already too late— the frustration is evident ("Eleanor you must mask your emotions, steel yourself if you want any chance of being anything worthwhile among us" they'd said).
But when the assassin mocks her, well, it's a bit too late for that. ]
You're awfully cocky for someone whose organization is little but a group of self-involved ruffians.
[ Her hand instinctively, hovers over the hilt of her rapier. She keeps her eyes on the woman. ]
[She looks back between the woman and the corpse, then withdraws her blades. Picking up the body, she throws it on over her back and begins to walk forward.]
You know, this was just a contract. Nothing personal. But we can make it personal if you'd like.
I believe in getting what I want. Don't really care past that point.
[As she closes in on Eleanor, she shifts the position of the corpse and... just tosses it at her. Not really throwing it as much as shoving it towards her.]
But that's not my kind's way, if that's what you mean. Although I don't think you're here to police their rules, are you?
[While 1960s beach movies aren't usually her thing, she certainly aced that performance. Ah, but how she wishes they were in Olivier's Hamlet! Except... then she'd have to figure out what Hamlet was actually saying. The song finished, Kaoru saunters over to Chisato, who's still by the entrance of Big Momma's. Clad in leather, she certainly looks the part, while Chisato remains in her modern day dress. For now, at least.]
I'm eager to hear your thoughts. This isn't my era of expertise, of course, but... I would say I played my role well.
