[ He let's go of he sword and looks at Velvet, really looks at her. Her voice is angry but that's not all it is, it's righteous. It's filled with conviction. ]

You're not the Lord of Calamity anymore, there were more after you. That's why there were more Shepards too. The world as it is now, it's dying and people are getting hurt, even if it's impossible to get rid of malevolence completely...even if you think it's bad, you haven't seen how bad it is when people just....give in.

I could never give in like that, it's why I'm still fighting now.

If you're asking whether or not I'm real, I can assure you that I am. But a dream isn't out of the question either. I'm asleep right now, after all.

[While it pisses her off to hear how history's progressed, it also doesn't surprise her. She's not even sure how long she's been asleep for, but she knows it'll never end.]

I never said it was impossible to purify all malevolence. If you kill me, you'll be able to harness the true abilities of the Shepherd and armatize with Innominat. So, is that what you want? Do you want to control humanity's will? If that's the case, feel free to call yourself a Shepherd while you're still alive.

Answer me, Shepherd! Will you free the world of malevolence?!

I didn't think you were fake. I'm pretty sure I'm asleep too, I just can't remember how long.

[ Her earnest reaction just makes him sad, as sad as it was to realise that the kindest thing for Edna and Eizen was the kill him, that those kinds of actions were necessary.

Velvet probably thinks her own anger and killing are justified. ]

I never really wanted any of this. I just...wanted to protect people, then it became a way to make the future better. But, even if it purifies malevolence throughout the world, I don't think killing you will make anyone feel any better or right any wrongs.

I don't know what this belief makes me, but as long as we're here and you're sleeping, there isn't any reason to kill you. But, if you woke up, then I'd have to consider it. I don't want to become the person who made Maotelus the way he was.
